Do not continue to Row 20 yet.
Instead, crochet a border around the entire peel:

Work down the side of the split
Continue around the full peel edge
Stop at the opposite side of Row 19
🍌 Create the Banana Stem
Ch 4.
Slip stitch to the first stitch of Row 19 to form a small loop inside the peel.
Ch 1 and turn.
Rnd 1: sc in each of the 4 chains and each of the 4 stitches on Row 19 [8]
Switch to green

Switch to brown

Fasten off and close the top by weaving the remaining loops together.
